The E53 Project

Sustainability through Longevity

We can all argue back and forth about whether or not climate change is real: my science v’s your science. I’m sure we can all accept the fact the planet is changing, it could be from natural Sun or Planetary cycles. It could be from humankind going too far with God-like experimentation e.g. Atmospheric Nuclear tests or Geoengineering. The case for carbon being the root cause is a moot point. For example, a recent volcanic eruption released 11,000 times the amount of C02 than humans have since we have been on the planet.

The war on vehicles in this case is a Trojan horse. In a recent Open Road Magazine, an article was written about BYD’s new factory in China which is capable of production of a car a minute. How does this effect the planet through excesses use of raw material? There are more than enough cars on the planet now; the problem is planned obsolescence. Should a car be a throw away item?  you can recycle the metal, but what about everything else – landfill, the more technical the car the less life span it has.

When buying a second-hand car talk to any experienced mechanic and they will tell you not to buy anything later than 2010 because there are too many things that can go wrong.

We here at BRO MAX have invested in a 2006 BMW X5 E53 built with a galvanised body making it an ideal vehicle to last in the harsh Australian climate. This combined with the availability of reasonably priced parts sourced form Alvardi makes this modern classic semi affordable only if you are prepared to invest money into extending the life of the car.
